Jim Hoeh, Rakkasan!
My Fellow Rakkasans and Lady Rakkasans,
On behalf of our Association, I want
to express my personal appreciation to all that attended
our annual Activation Day Ceremony and to all
responsible for the food and drinks that were made
available to us .Things just don’t come together by
accident, so to those that put things together so that
we would be worry free and enjoy ourselves to the
fullest, a very special THANK YOU. I must also thank the
Best Western Hotel management for the being outstanding
hosts, we could not have been treated better. Major Siry,
non commissioned officers, and soldiers of the 3rd
Brigade once again did an outstanding job in our
support. Everything we needed was obtained for us, even
the change from the Pylon Ceremony itself into the Pratt
Museum (due once again to inclement weather). Thanks to
all for taking the time to remember those Rakkasans that
gave their all. It is up to us to remember and only
those that are left are held to that responsibility.
On Thursday evening an over flow
group of Rakkasans, accompanied by Major Siry, Mrs.
Luong and Mrs.Patton attended the Los Banos dinner at
the VFW in Clarksville. The meal was great but Major
Siry as guest speaker really got the group fired up.
I am privileged to announce to you
that the Board of Directors voted to select Mary Nesbitt
as our Reserve Rakkasan of the year. Gene Molen (Mr.
Hospitality Room) was selected as the Rakkasan of the
year. Both Mary and Gene are most deserving of the award
for all the time and work they have both given to
benefit us all. In addition, Jim Musgrove was selected
to represent the Association at the Airborne Awards
Ceremony as the 187th Man of the Year.
Reminder that sign up time is NOW
for our upcoming Reunion (2010) in Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina, September 26th through October 2,
2010. All information is located within the Shimbun.
Rakkasan and hotel registrations plus trip information.
