Jim Hoeh, Rakkasan!

My Fellow Rakkasans and Lady Rakkasans,

Once again on behalf of the Association a great big thank you to the Golden Rakkasans for again being so very generous in support of our Active Duty Rakkasans during the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Brigade forwarded 113 names that were in need of assistance and all were taken care of by your generosity. We still have $2,676.87 remaining in the troop support fund which will be used as the need arises-- Christmas or emergencies throughout the year.

Please make note of our February 2010 gathering for our annual Activation Day ceremony and the Los Banos dinner dates. (Details are printed in this issue.)

If all goes as planned, there will be a DMOR ceremony conducted in conjunction with our Activation Day ceremony, but a lot will depend on the Brigade’s schedule. Right now it looks like a go and those to be inducted will be notified by our national secretary.

OUR NATIONAL REUNION is scheduled for 2010 in Myrtle Beach during the period of 26 September to 2 October at the Landmark Resort Hotel. All that remains to be finalized are trips if any while at the reunion—all else is firm. Since we are not using AFRI this year Virginia Musgrove will be your point of contact for Registration. (Hotel registration is your responsibility) Daily schedule of events, hotel and Rakkasan registration forms are in this issue of the Shimbun.

Throughout this past year we have lost some truly great Rakkasans and Lady Rakkasans. Each in their own way was very special and contributed much to the success of our Association. Truly they will be missed .We send our prayers, love and deepest condolences.

The Christmas Season will have passed by the time you receive this Shimbun but my thoughts are with you for a great new year, filled with happiness and love for one another.

To all our Rakkasan families out there (too numerous to name) who have not been able to attend reunions or meetings due to illness or other pressing reasons, please be aware you are forever in our hearts and prayers and we care about you. Please stay in touch and know you are missed.

James E. Hoeh
PRESIDENT
