What kind of stuff can I post?
Open up the bulletin board. On the
top right hand corner you will see a Register. Click on
register and fill out the information. Please ensure
your address is correct as the registration will fail if
you have an incorrect email.
No, if you click on Log in on the top
right corner, the login screen will appear. When you
add your login name and password, make sure you click on
"log me in automatically each visit". This will keep
you logged in each time you visit. If you have your
security settings too high or disallow cookies, this
will not work and you will have to login each time.
The association strongly suggests you
either use your real name, or at least a nickname that
everyone knows. This makes it easier for other people
to send you messages and email.
In the login screen on the bulletin
board, at the bottom there is a hyperlink for "forgot
password". If you click on this, the system will send
you an email to your registered email address with your
password.
If you forget your login name, there
are two ways of getting. Firstly on the top section of
the bulletin board, it has a hyperlink for memberlist,
scroll down the list to remind yourself of the
screen/login name. Keep it simple so you remember it.
Second option, is to send the webmaster an email and we
can help you out.
A PM is a private message. The
software on the bulletin board allows you to send a
private message between register member. When the
person logins or refreshes the bulletin board, the
software will send a message in the form of a popup
notice that they have a private message. You private
message mail box is similar to an email program so it is
easy to use. This feature is very useful for sending
messages or responding to a post privately to a member.
The software also allows you to send an email through
the website to the members registered email address.
This is very handy particularly when you want to respond
by email to a post on the bulletin board. When a person
posts, at the bottom of their post it will say email and
PM, click on the applicable button for what you want to
do.
First step is to register on the
bulletin board. Then you can proceed to the forum you
want to post in. Make sure it is the appropriate one
for your post. Then click on "new post" on the top left
corner of the bulletin board table. Type in a title
that is short and to the point. Try to include dates
and chapter when possible. Fill in the main text area
and press submit at the bottom. You post will appear in
the main forum. Note that you can specify for the
system to send you and message if the post is replied
to. This can be very handy if you are looking for some
specific information or infrequently view the board.
Firstly your picture needs to be
hosted already on the internet. There are various free
ways of doing this. We have the capability at
Rakkasan.net for Chapter and National photos. In your
post, you must frame the internet address of the picture
with special text. An example is:

Yes most definitely. Please contact
webmaster@rakkasan.net and he will set you up. You
will be responsible for providing a person to function
as moderator for your chapter forum. Their duties are
to ensure the content adheres to the Association's
policy on content and use.
Yes. Right now it is a public
forum. The purpose of the bulletin board is to enhance
contact between members of the association and for the
use of the active duty soldiers of the 187th. Any
person on the board regardless of membership status who
does not conduct themselves in an appropriate manner
will be banned from the bulletin board either
permanently or for a period of time. We do have the
ability to make certain forums accessible for registered
members or just to specific members. This can be used
in a specific forum for conducting chapter or national
business when being public on the internet is not
desired. Only the administrators have access outside of
those given privileges to have access.
It is expected that the material in
the posts will be relevant to the forum it is contained
in. The Rakkasan Chat Area near the bottom is designed
for posts that don't fit into the other areas. This is
were you can chat just about anything. All posts must
pass the "good taste" test. If you would not want your
daughter or niece reading it, it probably should not be
posted on a public forum. Use your best judgment lest
you be judged by the moderators.
